Description

Innovating Science kit is used to study the properties of aspirin. The kit builds student understanding of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), and includes performance tests of several different types of aspirin for detailed examination. The kit features activities for examining the solubility of aspirin in varying gastrointestinal environments, and comparing active ingredients in regular and extra-strength aspirin, and the differences between regular and buffered aspirin. For hands-on learning, the kit has materials for 15 groups of students, including hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, phenolphthalein, universal indicator strips, graduated plastic pipettes, disposable medicine cups, and aspirin. The kit has a teacher’s manual and student study guide copymasters for instructional use, and a material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures. The kit is suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision, and meets the requirements for Department of Transportation (DOT) small quantity exemption 173.4, and conforms to 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 173.4 for domestic highway or rail transport only.Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects. Teachers in pre-K, elementary, and secondary classrooms use science education kits and products alongside science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curriculum to demonstrate STEM concepts and real-world applications through hands-on activities. Science education projects include a broad range of activities, such as practical experiments in engineering, aeronautics, robotics, energy, chemistry, physics, biology, and geology.Innovating Science products, manufactured by Aldon Corporation, include educational kits for the chemistry, life science, green chemistry, advanced placement chemistry, and forensic fields. Aldon Corporation was founded in 1964, and is headquartered in Avon, NY.What’s in the Box?(5) hydrochloric acid 1M solution (30 .0mL) UN1789(8) sodium hydroxide 1M solution (30.0mL) UN1824(1) phenolphthalein 1.0% in ethanol (30.0mL) UN1170(50) universal indicator strips(15) graduated plastic pipettes(45) disposable medicine cups(75) aspirin, regular(60) aspirin, buffered(45) aspirin, enteric coated(15) aspirin, extra strengthTeacher’s manualStudent study guide copymastersMaterial safety data sheet (MSDS) packet
