Glorafilia Tapestry/Needlepoint Kit – Union Jack This is one of two designs created to celebrate the ‘Special Relationship’ between the United Kingdom and the United States of America, the other design being the Stars and Stripes. The Special relationship Is an unofficial term used to describe the political, diplomatic, economic and historical relations between the United Kingdom and United States of America. It came about after a speech made by Winston Churchill in 1946. However, the Flag needlepoint kits were designed to celebrate 50 years of marriage between Jennifer Berman (founder of Glorafilia) and a British citizen and her American husband. The designs were inspired by the artist Jasper Johns who painted The Stars and Stripes several times. What better time for us to be patriotic? The design is stitched in tent stitch (continental stitch) and a small amount of stem stitch for outlining. This is worked on 12 count full colour printed interlock canvas the kit also comes with plenty of Anchor Tapestry wool yarn to complete, together with full, easy to follow instructions.
