This Tri-Hone Sharpening Kit includes Silicon Carbide, Soft Arkansas stone, Hard Arkansas stone and a 1 ounce bottle of honing oil. Silicon Carbide is the fastest cutting oil stone which makes them ideal for the initial coarse sharpening. The Soft Arkansas is a coarse stone as well but is slightly less coarse than the silicon carbide. Using a coarse stone is the fastest way to get a good shape on an edge. The Hard Arkansas is a finer stone which is used to refine the edge, improving the quality of the cut it delivers. The Case honing oil is designed for use with sharpening stones while sharpening.
